Personally, I had the privilege of spending an unforgettable week exploring the wonders of Krabi. Each day was filled with new discoveries and new experiences, making it clear that there’s never a dull moment in this tropical haven! Last year we visited Thailand for the first time ever and it was truly amazing. Our first stop was sunny Krabi. After 3 flights, a bad night of sleep and overall a lot of excitement, we were ready to explore the South of Thailand.

Krabi isn’t the only jewel in area, nearby islands like Phi Phi and Koh Lanta offer their own unique place. Together, they form a stunning archipelago that promises endless exploration and discovery. No wonder with these wonderful destinations nearby that some of those are also on the list of great things to do in Krabi Area. Like visiting Maya bay or other beaches like Nang beach.

By Plane:
Krabi is served by Krabi International Airport (KBV), located near the provincial capital of Krabi Town. The airport offers direct flights from major cities across Asia, including Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Hong Kong. Travelers have a variety of airline options to choose from, making it convenient to find the best route to Krabi.
Getting Around:
Once you’ve landed in Krabi, getting around the region is convenient and easy. Rental cars are readily available at the airport and in major towns, providing travelers with the freedom to explore Krabi and its surrounding areas at their own pace. Additionally, local transportation options such as taxis, tuk-tuks, and songthaews (shared trucks) offer affordable and efficient ways to travel between towns and attractions on the island. Whether you prefer the independence of a rental car or the local charm of public transportation, getting around Krabi is a breeze!
We left the airport with a pre-arranged taxi. Something that was organized by our Resort. Great experience to already have that setteld when you arrive after a long flight. For the rest of our stay we rented our own bike. This was something we also did at our resort. Fortunately Krabi area has many different places that have scooters available. Personally we always felt safe during our scooters ride. In this case my boyfriend already has experiencing with driving one, so that is something to consider.

Here are some of our highlights that shouldn’t be overlooked during your stay in this stunning destination:
Island Hopping Tour:
For a budget friendly and adventurous experience, consider joining a group tour with a speedboat. We opted for this option and were pleasantly surprised. After booking at our hotel, we joined a diverse group of travelers for an exciting day out. We headed out from the Ao Nang area but there are also options to travel from Krabi Town.
The tour took us to must-see spots like the Phi Phi Islands, Monkey Beach, and the iconic Maya Bay. Despite some initial uncertainty, the breathtaking scenery and friendly atmosphere made for an unforgettable experience. We even had the chance to snorkel and spot some marine life, including blacktip reef sharks.
After a delicious lunch on the Phi Phi Islands, we explored Bamboo Island before heading back. Overall, the tour exceeded our expectations and provided memorable moments that we’ll cherish. Don’t miss out on this must-do activity when visiting Krabi!

Although we didn’t experience this activity ourselves, it was still amazing to see other climb to the top. Railey Beach is easy accessible from Ao Nang area.

Situated within the Khao Phra Bang Khram Nature Reserve, these natural wonders offer a serene sanctuary amidst lush tropical foliage. Take a dip in the cool, emerald-hued waters of the natural pool, or unwind in the therapeutic thermal springs for a rejuvenating experience. This place seems like something straight out of a movie. Although to be honest, Krabi could be one big movie backdrop. Amazing!
Food you need to explore!
After a day of adventure, it’s time to treat yourself to Krabi’s delicious food scene. From fresh seafood to aromatic curries, Krabi’s food is a feast for the senses. Don’t miss the chance to sample traditional Thai dishes like Pad Thai and Tom Yum Goong.
For an unforgettable experience, head to the Krabi Night Market. We had a great time there, trying all sorts of tasty Thai street food. From satay skewers to noodle soups, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Krabi Night Market was our first market during our visit to Thailand, straight away we liked it and actually loved it to just explore all the different stalls and food options. I think that night alone we tried at least 8 different things. The most amazing and surprising thing was that actually everything tasted amazing.

This was also for any activities we would like to do. That amount though? Was a real joke. We have spend so much less. Krabi is a great and affordable location. Each day we had an amazing time while not looking to much at our budget. You can also take advantage of free activities like exploring local markets, hiking nature trails, or simply lounging on the beach for a budget-friendly day out.
